At 8 o'clock my alarm clock rings.
Today we may start a little later because the weather forecast predicts rain in the morning and the route will not be quite as long today.
Relaxed getting ready, relaxed breakfast. Churros and toast. I eat quite a lot for breakfast every day.
In general, I eat quite a lot on the Camino because I burn a lot.
I'm curious to see what the scales will say in Germany, but I feel like I've gained more weight here 🫣
At 10 o'clock the time has come and I set off.
Meanwhile, there are also many other pilgrims on the way who have already completed half of their day's stage 🤣
Well, we started off dry from the top. The ground is completely wet and where it is not firm, it is muddy. In general, the path is often like a mud fight these days.
The first few hours are spent walking through forests. Very beautiful and there are streams and small rivers all the time. Today I pass through many small villages, all built in the Middle Ages.
A little later we cross fields, where it gets very windy because we are unprotected.
There are some climbs and descents that are not really worth mentioning, but people who have just started in Sarria complain about the steep climbs and how difficult it is.
What would these people have done in St. Jean, Zubiri, Foncebadon, Pradela, O Cebreiro or all the other mountains that had to be climbed?
Today, however, it was only a few hundred meters. It was tiring, yes, but nothing that you couldn't manage.
It's probably even more exhausting because it's raining again. Nothing for tourists at the moment...
You can also tell that they don't say hello to anyone and are in a bad mood. Everyone who has been walking for a long time is in a good mood and looking forward to arriving. The conversations revolve around the beautiful and formative experiences and everyone wonders what the arrival will be like.
In Arzua we have lunch at a very good Italian restaurant before we set off on the last 8km of the day in pouring rain. Mainly in the forest again, which makes the rain seem less heavy at times.
I am now only 31km from Santiago and to make my arrival a little more relaxed, I will walk to Montes de Gozo tomorrow. 26km from here.
On Saturday it's only 5km to Santiago. So get up relaxed, have breakfast and arrive in the morning.
Tomorrow, because of the 26km, I want to leave a little earlier and am aiming for 8am.
It will also rain nicely all day long.
