We arrive (of course) on time at the train station and treat ourselves to a delicious breakfast at 'Snooze a.m.'
Then we go to our cozy sleeping compartment.
We depart with a delay, but that's normal. Freight trains always have priority.
As soon as we have lost sight of the last skyscrapers of Denver, the foothills of the Rocky Mountains begin. We let the dreamlike landscape pass by.
For lunch, we have a tasty cheeseburger. We munch away with a great panoramic view.
For dinner, we have excellent chicken breast and a small cake...
It starts to dawn and our conductor Chris prepares the beds.
Dine downstairs, I upstairs. Just like in a youth hostel.
We sleep surprisingly well despite the train setting.
However, waking up early on the train is included. On time with the sunrise at around 6 o'clock.
We have French toast for breakfast and slowly make our way to the Sierra Nevada.
It's incredible how the landscape changes.
The impressions cannot be described in words or pictures. Simply a cool way to travel through this vast country.
By now, we're 3 hours behind schedule 🤷♂️🤷♀️
In the end, we arrive in Emeryville with a delay of almost 4 hours.
A quick 'Sorry Guys' and it's done.
The bus connection to San Francisco is waiting and drops us off in San Francisco around 9 p.m.
We walk towards Union Square and hope to catch a taxi. It takes a bit, but then it works.
The hotel is conveniently located directly on 2 cable car routes.
San Francisco, we are ready for you.
Stay tuned
