Snowplows in the desert

Publicado: 28.12.2019

The drive to Las Vegas through the desert was originally planned as a 'pure transfer' and turned into an adventure.

After leaving the city limits of L.A., I could already see snow-covered mountains on the horizon, picturesque.

But out of nowhere it started raining, or rather, it was pouring, and later I found myself in the thickest snowstorm.

The traffic became heavier and the visibility got worse. I'm driving a convertible (optional) by the way...

In any case, nothing moved on Interstate 15 North for 4 hours. Pass closed due to snow and ice 😲

It's dispensable to arrive in Las Vegas during the day. Evening is sufficient 😁

After endless waiting, the traffic started moving again in pouring rain.

Until about 90 miles before Las Vegas.

Another traffic jam 🤮

But this time there was no escape. After another 6 hours of crawling, blue-red lights appeared on the horizon. Finally reached the accident site...

But the highway patrol diverted all traffic off the highway.

I15 closed - heavy snow

No detour in the desert. Fortunately, there was a gas station at the exit, which was naturally very busy 😂

Since the way back to Barstow (the next town southward) was also closed, I had only one option:

Turn the heater on full blast and then 'sleep' in the car. Back to the roots, Jeff 😏

It was now 2:00 a.m.

The night dragged on and I was already feeling warmer in shorts. ☺The Mustang is a great car, but it definitely lacks sleeping comfort compared to the good old Peugeot 206...

Eventually, it became bright and the lights on the highway stretched endlessly to the horizon.

But it was blue sky and somehow the monstrous queue of cars started moving northward.

So, start the engine and arrive in Las Vegas in 2 hours.

On the opposite direction of the highway (which was still closed to the south), snowplows passed by snow-covered cacti, competing through the white desert.

I arrived in Vegas shortly after 10 a.m. without any incidents.

It's crazy to have this colorful and flashy city in the middle of the desert.

Now, after my 23-hour trip, I definitely need breakfast. And I mean URGENTLY 😋.

Huge hunger !!!

Stay tuned!

Jeff
