Montauroux is a small municipality in southeastern France with only 6346 inhabitants. The people here are very friendly, as we experienced when we met a local resident. Matis is about the same age as us and we met him at a sports field. When he asked us how we wash our laundry, we didn't really have an answer. So far, we have only been able to wash our laundry by hand in a sink at a campsite. He offered to wash it for us. Although we felt guilty, we finally agreed. In the evening, we arranged to meet him in our camper van to play cards and chat.
The next few days were also very eventful. We hiked down to the nearby river twice to fetch fresh water for showering and washing dishes. We had read that the water is so clean that it can be drunk. All the surrounding villages are supplied with it.
Walking uphill with 10 liters of water in our backpacks is even more exhausting, and we are much more careful with water :D
During another hike, we discovered an old mill powered by a water wheel. It was quite overgrown and damaged, so we had to be careful where we stepped. We also found a small beach that we had all to ourselves. With 21°C and sunshine, we had a great time.
Tomorrow we will continue to the sea. We are excited!
