Praia do Rosa

Publicado: 27.03.2017

Our trip to Praia do Rosa went smoothly. We were picked up by a taxi driver at the bus stop and taken to our Pousada. It was a very nice new Pousada with a pool, located a little off the main street of the village. Many things reminded us directly of Bali. From the streets and the greenery, it could also be a village like Ubud. Did the Brazilians copy from the Balinese? The many Buddha statues, Indonesian names (Lombok Restaurant, Bagus), and the many Asian foods suggest that the people must have been to Indonesia before.

Right after arrival, with grumbling stomachs, we went along the main street in search of something to eat. Unfortunately, there wasn't much going on (the high season ended after Carnival), so we ended up choosing a sushi restaurant where we could sit outside overlooking the village. We spent the evening there.

The next morning, very early and without breakfast, we headed to the beach. The weather forecast had predicted rain for the afternoon, and we wanted to explore the coast before that. The waiter from the previous evening had given us the tip to walk about 20 minutes north from Praia do Rosa Beach (Rosa Norte) to a completely secluded beach. So we set off. However, it already took 20 minutes to get to Praia do Rosa Beach, as you had to walk over a hill from the village first. The beach of Praia do Rosa is characterized by being completely surrounded by nature and having no direct roads or houses on the beach.

Once we arrived at Praia do Rosa Beach, we made our way to the secluded beach through a small path of shrubs and rocks. When we arrived, we were truly the first and only people around! Sweaty and a bit exhausted, we jumped into the cool water: it was wonderful! Unfortunately, it didn't take long for more people to arrive at the beach, and we no longer had the beach to ourselves.

After a while, we started to feel hungry and thirsty, so we decided to walk back to Praia do Rosa Beach and eat and drink Empanadas and Caipirinhas at a shack on the beach. In the afternoon, it started to rain, so we spent the rest of the day at the Pousada and only went out for dinner in the evening (Ceviche). That made the day pass quickly, and before continuing our journey to Florianopolis the next day, we enjoyed a cozy breakfast, including 'Acai', a type of fruit ice cream/sorbet with fruits.
