Cash and Coins

The day today was quite uneventful, Arica doesn't have much to offer, even on weekdays. The hotel is located directly in the pedestrian zone 21 Mayo, so I spent the whole day walking around, also went to the beach and the fishing port, which were all pretty unimpressive and pretty run down. Arica is not really exciting.

The evening made up for it a bit, with finally a really decent coffee from a machine (if you don't have that for a few days, you appreciate it) at Marleys Cafe....The food, on the other hand, remains terrible....

I have learned some new words here in Chile that are not used in Spain, for example, South Americans tend to use the word Plata ("silver") rather than Dinero (most people will still have the song "No tengo dinero" in their head).

Another word that is used a lot is the word Monedas for coins and the most appropriate term I find is "efectivo" for cash. You can't express something more effectively than that..:-)

Tomorrow very early at 05:30 we will go to Puerto Montt in the south via Santiago....
