The bicycle was invented here.

Foillsichte: 02.10.2017

This morning we started from the campsite on empty stomachs and rode our bikes into town.

Empty stomachs - I emphasize that because it doesn't usually happen, but I took charge of the planning with an iron fist and led us to the 'most authentic breakfast cafe in Florence' for breakfast.

It was worth it. It was bustling with locals who downed their coffee at the bar, probably quickly before going to work. Then the old ladies came in and talked about God, the world, and mozzarella (mozzarella was the only word we understood). The place was just extremely Italian. The 2 waiters behind the counter had everything under control... There was no service, but the food was delicious. There was a sign behind the bar that said something like: men: no t-shirt, no shoes, no service - women: no t-shirts, free drinks ;)

We didn't visit many tourist attractions. For me, it's not the churches but the feeling of life that make up the experience of a city. And what can I say, Florence is just very likeable. We want to come back here, which is very rare for us because we usually avoid cities... It surprised me as well. Unfortunately, it's difficult to capture that in photos... The old buildings, the narrow streets, and above all the atmosphere... you really have to be there yourself.

We treated ourselves to some attractions, like the bridge with the goldsmiths, or the Piazza de Vinci, and we also went to the famous market in Florence. All very cool. We let the market lady convince us to buy chili and successfully resisted the street vendor selling pictures and the market stall selling leather gloves ;) The picture was cool, but when we saw that everyone was selling the same pictures, it wasn't as cool anymore... but I really liked the picture of the bridge, maybe next time when we're here ;)

Right now we're in Lucca next to a riverbed, just enjoyed a sunset dinner, and now we're chilling at Johann, sipping wine and watching the day come to an end.

Tomorrow we want to treat ourselves to a pizza in Lucca ;) and then we'll drive to Chinque Terre in the evening.
