Für den Abstieg reicht's (Day 29 of the world trip)

Foillsichte: 06.10.2019

When we woke up in the morning, we felt a little better. Breakfast was impossible, though. The smell of warm food was still too much :(

Rischab organized two apples for us, which were even peeled (just to be sure?). Jonas and I shared the apples, which took us about half an hour, but we didn't have a choice. Today we had to go back to the village. Mules were offered to us again, but we decided to try walking instead :)

The path was really not long (about 2-3 hours) and mostly downhill. Jonas seemed pretty fit and I managed to do it without any problems. But it was still super exhausting, especially when it briefly went uphill. At one point, an old lady/villager overtook us and smiled at me encouragingly, "slowly, slowly" she said to me kindly in Hindi. Really cute - and embarrassing ^^

We also walked quite a distance together with Ashka, who proudly spoke about his Futsal and cricket love. Cricket is a big thing in India ;-)

Around noon we arrived in the village, in Osla. There we had the opportunity to stay in a homestay instead of a tent, and since everyone else was doing it and we were not averse to comfort, we said yes of course.

The homestay was actually really cool. It is a wooden hut with two floors and common rooms where you sleep on blankets on the floor. We were asked if it would be okay for us to share the room with someone. I said "sure. If someone dares and no one is afraid of us." We ended up in a room with our three buddies, which was really great :)

By the way, there was a poster of the Indian cricket national team in our room, on which the players are funny photoshopped :D :D :D Ashka, Bobby and Gaurav found it hilarious. The skin shines and sparkles and everything looks perfect. I imagine how ridiculous it would be if our national football team were portrayed like that on posters. It was really exaggeratedly kitschy and obviously edited ^^

It was raining heavily outside again, so the five of us just sat in our cozy hut and chatted. Bobby is very well-read and interested in many things, so a conversation with him is really exciting. He explained the basics of Hinduism to us, asked us more about Germany, and we exchanged ideas about various things. For example, he reads Nietzsche and likes Beethoven and is interested in astrology and physics and stuff. So there was definitely enough to talk about :)

When soup was served, Jonas and I tried warm food for the first time. It was really tough and I was disgusted, even though the soup itself was really delicious :( Unfortunately, Jonas couldn't handle the soup at all, so he had to skip dinner, but then we continued to eat dry biscuits...

The night in the warm, dry room was really great. When I had to go to the toilet at night, I realized that my circulation was not ready yet, but overall we were getting better. We had completed the first descent and tomorrow we would return to Sankri, back to the (spider) resort :)
