Lots of sunshine, lots of wind
The weather is beautiful again, although slightly cooler and significantly windier than yesterday. We ride our bikes to the Northern Lights Cathedral, where we are alone in the church nave.
The atmosphere is completely different from the Ice Sea Cathedral in Tromsø. In Tromsø, we perceived it as cool and objective, here in Alta, the atmosphere captivates us, bringing tranquility, self-reflection, and a sense of grandeur. The modern architecture, using concrete, color, space, and concealed light strips, has created an impressive church nave.
On our way to the sea, we pass another church, which, like many other Norwegian churches, is made of white wood.
At the small marina of Alta, we bid farewell to the vast North Atlantic, which we have been with for almost six weeks. Gondula puts her hand in the ice-cold, clear water, so to speak, as a final greeting.
There is a small hill in Alta, we ride to the foot of the hill and climb up to the summit. Even from the top, there is a wonderful view over the Alta Fjord. (Cover photo)
Opposite the campsite, there is an open-air museum depicting a Sami village. In the afternoon, we take a walk there, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and serenity. Of course, reindeer meat is on the menu at the restaurant.
