Heading south! With this resolution, I left winter-cold Boston on Thursday morning. A cold coffee warmed me up while waiting for the delayed bus in a hoodie and transitional jacket at -2°C.
On the way through snowy New England, we stopped once. Wow, my first visit to a Burger King in the USA!!! A coffee for $1 ($1.07 incl. taxes).
Another highlight was the ride over the mighty Hudson River with a view of Manhattan in the afternoon sun. Finally, we reached our destination with a slight delay.
After visiting the private Frick Foundation (including Rembrandt, Goya, Turner, Whistler), I moved into my accommodation in Brooklyn.
In the sunken ground floor of a row house, there were several dormitory rooms, a common room with a kitchen, and a windowless basement with eight additional beds. There I found my place to stay for the next few days. The modern colorful design of the 'cohousing space' with ubiquitous notes explaining behavior and manners reminded me of a mixture of kindergarten and backpacker hostel. Among the mostly young women, I was probably the oldest. But after initial alienation, I felt very comfortable here.
So I also refrained from having my leisure beer on the first evening. Hopefully, I didn't snore.
