Day 3.1: Padstow - Trevone

Fortunately, the rain didn't last long, so we could start our walk after a late breakfast at the harbor in Padstow. Unfortunately, unlike last night, it was cloudy and low tide, so the whole Camel Estuary looked different. Doom Bar, Padstow's famous and infamous sandbank in front of the harbor, was once again exposed.

Padstow was very busy, as well as the first few meters of the Coast Path, but it quickly thinned out. The path continued along the Camel with its numerous sandbanks until Stepper Point. Now the wind from the Atlantic was noticeable again. The old building impressively marks the Camel Estuary.

Now the view is finally free for our new stages. Trevose Head is particularly noticeable with its rising promontory.

Right after Stepper Point, we came across an impressive cove called Butter Hole, which drops vertically into the depths.

After a quieter section, we reached the Merope Islands, huge rocks that lie like detached fragments in the water not far from the cliffs. Just before Trevone Bay, I spotted a round hole in the ground... It's Roundhole on Roundhole Point. Somehow, the sea has carved an access from below... Incredible!!!

Trevone is a lively little town in a cute bay with a lovely beach. Due to the predicted rain, we decided not to have a drink and instead hitchhiked straight to the main road and Padstow to get to the car.

With just under 9 km as a half-day hike, it was a nice start...
