Stopover in Isfahan

Foillsichte: 21.03.2017

Since we could only sleep in the sauna bus to a limited extent, we took another nap after arrival at 6 o'clock. By the way, every hotel so far (3 in total) has let us into the room in the morning, so we didn't have to run around the city in our clothes until noon. It's really relaxed here and wouldn't be so easy for us.

At around 11 o'clock we headed straight to the city, through a beautiful park and then to Meydan-e Imam, allegedly one of the most beautiful squares in the world, and I would confirm that (let's leave out the ski piste ;-)). A huge square with a big fountain in the middle, a mosque on one long side, a palace on the other, a bazaar on the other two sides, and the 'Great Mosque' which lives up to its name, amazing and very impressive.

Once again we were approached by Iranians several times and asked where we come from. A colleague led us through the bazaar and to a textile factory for a few minutes. Now we can join politicians from all over the world who have already visited here. On the way back, a family from Canada (who visited their family in Iran for New Year's) wanted to take a photo with us, of course we are happy to oblige :-)

Then we headed towards the river, over various historic bridges. When we arrived, we expected a green oasis, but could only see a large brown, dried-up riverbed. Later we learned that the dam had been closed to save water. Therefore, we had the opportunity to take photos of the bridge from the riverbed.

For dinner, we treated ourselves to an Iranian buffet this time, it's really something!
