Ketchikan in the rain

We originally planned to sit on our terrace at 5 a.m. and enjoy the scenery. But unfortunately, it was so foggy outside that we decided to stay in bed. At 9 a.m., we went to the Lido for breakfast. It was really crowded. There was not a free table in sight. We spontaneously decided to take our breakfast to our balcony. From there, we could also observe the hustle and bustle in the harbor. In the meantime, our ship had docked in Ketchikan. With a population of 8,245, Ketchikan is the sixth largest city in Alaska. Here, we are in the rainiest region of the Inside Passage, with 3,830 mm of precipitation annually. It rains 6 times as much as in Germany. And we were not lucky enough to see Ketchikan in the sun either. It was pouring rain at times. We took a walk to Creek Street, where there used to be a well-known red-light district until 1950. Most of the houses along Ketchikan Creek are built on stilts. On the way there, of course, you could visit numerous souvenir shops.

After a delicious hamburger on deck, we are now sitting on our terrace again and watching the tourists run in the rain. Tomorrow we will have another day at sea through the Inside Passage before we dock in Vancouver on Sunday morning.
