Hello! Welcome to a new edition of Salome's life. 😉
Before we slip right into August, here's a little update from me on the past month. As I mentioned in the last blog entry: I had a lot of exams to complete for the end of my 4th semester. ☺️ Now I can relax and say that I've got all my exams behind me. Now I'm going to focus on the things that lie ahead of me. In short: vacation, relocation and internship. 😄
Like you, I'm sure, I've also been following the European Football Championship. Be it via the projector in our living room or on my TV in my room (while I was writing university papers at the same time 😅😂). I think it's a real shame that we were, in my opinion, unfairly eliminated. We all probably saw the supposed handball. But well, we have to be able to lose. 🥲
In the picture gallery you can get a few insights into my editing program (Final Cut), where I'm in the process of editing the recorded green screen so that I can put a different background behind it. I've always been interested in how this works. 🤔 Thanks to my professor, who took a few hours of his time to sit down with me and show me a few tricks. Video editing can be fun if you have the right know-how. 😎
We had our last lesson with our professor in my cultural focus as she is leaving the campus. She brought cake and we thanked her for the 2 wonderful semesters we had with her. 🤗 We don't yet know who we'll get next, but there's still time until after the internship.
The more exams I've been able to cross off my list, the more relaxed I've been. But I also have to admit that I've learned to deal with university stress over time and it's just normal to see everything a little more relaxed with every semester that comes my way. In one photo you can see me looking at the media law flashcards one last time before I took the exam. 👀
About the exam: There were 25 tasks to complete. The exam was scheduled for 1h30min. When the professor said that half the time was up, I was on task 9. 😂🤣 In my defense: 1. I still managed all the tasks and 2. many of the tasks had subtasks, i.e. A, B, C and so on. But I have a good feeling. 👍🏻 Nevertheless, I felt like Usain Bolt in the exam - not when I was running 🏃🏼♀️ , but when I was writing.✍🏻 I would have liked to have written even faster, but at some point I couldn't go any faster. It was unbelievably a race against time. 🕞 Pouring all your knowledge onto the pages until the end. I can't wait to see the result and whether or not the hand pain was worth it afterwards. 😜 Half of our class didn't even take notes, but postponed them. But my mentality is: if you don't try at the first attempt, you'll never know whether you would have made it the first time or not. But so far it's worked out quite well for me. 🙏🏻
Now my little experience report from the speed dating that we re-enacted for our YouTube shoot. I have to say, it was a bit strange and sometimes I couldn't really think of anything good to say. 😅 But in 5 minutes it's hard to go beyond small talk. I wonder what it's like when you actually book it on the internet and then meet lots and lots of different potential partners. Do you often get anything out of it? 🤷🏼♀️ Well, I still think speed dating is better than online dating, because you often develop false expectations with online dating until you meet someone. Or have you had other experiences? With speed dating, you can assess a person much better and see what they're really like. 💁🏼♀️
While we're at it: The second part of the grief podcast is also finished. If you're interested, I'd be happy to share it with you. Just write to me to do so. 📲
So after the exams, I had more time for other things again. For example, I cooked something with one of my flatmates, which you can see in the pictures. 😋 On other days, I met up with friends to swim in the outdoor pool, go to the movies or go stand-up paddling. I wonder where I got my bruises from? 🤔 But let's be honest, considering it was my first time on a board like this, at least I didn't fall off, but stayed on top. Incidentally, that was at Rothsee, near Hilpoltstein. I can only recommend it. It's very beautiful and very idyllic. 🏞️
Last but not least, my aunt, uncle and cousin came to visit for a night. As they come from the far north and are currently on their way to a conference in Italy, my home was an obvious stopover. ✋🏻
At the moment I'm packing for my little trip to the other side of the world, but also for the upcoming stopover with my other aunt and uncle and my grandparents, who live near the Czech border. I'll be with them this Thursday until Sunday. 🥰
After that, I'm off to my parents. A short trip to Germany until I can get on the plane on 08/07. 🛫 This time from Düsseldorf. I have to make sure I don't get into the habit of flying to the States once a year. But you can make an exception for a wedding. 👰🏻🤵🏻
This week will pass quickly. But even after that, it's definitely not going to be boring. 😅 On August 18th, I'm leaving home to go back to Ansbach and then I'm looking forward to clearing out my room. A good opportunity has now arisen for me in Munich. 😍 I've had various offers and have now decided that I'm going to move to Unterhaching. To be more precise: To a policewoman, because she has a spare room. Once again, God has blessed me to find affordable accommodation that is also only half an hour away from my internship in Unterföhring. 😇
Another prayer request would be for my room here in Ansbach. 🙏🏻 It's proving extremely difficult to find a suitable person to sublet. Most people are looking for longer, which unfortunately I can't offer. After all, I want to move back here in six months' time and avoid having to look for something new. On August 10th, the new trainee teachers will know whether they will be joining the Ansbach schools or not. I have already informed the schools about my vacant room and hope that someone will get in touch with me in good time. 📞
Now a little “status report” from my work. As the one full-time employee in our photo store had given notice for June, I was given more hours in June and July. My hours have therefore been brought forward, which means I now have a completely free August. I'm a bit sad that I had my last day of work on 07/27. 🥺 Even if it's only for six months, I will miss working with my colleagues. I was given a little elephant pendant to say goodbye, because elephants never forget and I shouldn't forget them either. Really cute! 🥰 And I'm supposed to come back, otherwise I'll be called back from Munich in person. That definitely doesn't make it any easier to leave. 🥲
A lot has happened again in the shared flat. I don't even know what the last status was here on the blog. There are currently 3 young men and 4 women living here. 🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️ Although two of the ladies, the trainee teachers, have now moved out. Their time in Ansbach has come to an end. It's not yet clear who will be joining them on the top floor. So two rooms would be free again. The shared flat is constantly changing. 😁
I'm looking forward to my time in Munich with great anticipation and can't wait to tell you about my experiences there. 🤭 But until then, I'm enjoying the semester break - which is still short this year.
PS: I'm sure I'll see one or two of you on my little trip through Germany or my short stay abroad. 😃
See you again in August. 🙃
