Twizel is a small, cozy village in which we feel comfortable. You can compare it with home 😁. Nevertheless, nature and forests always have something ominous - like in a horror film 😅. The village primarily serves as a base camp for expeditions on and over Mount Cook. I wanted to take a trip to Mount Cook (from sunrise to sunset, so to speak). But the situation is generally difficult to assess: snow, cold, fitness level. So we decided to do our own tour. After breakfast we drove past Lake Pukaki in fantastic weather - our destinations: Tasmania Lake and Mueller Lake. The ride was once again very exciting and spectacular. I was pretty excited the whole time. We have never been this close to the mountains before. They have many different shapes, patterns and colors. In general it is again a very successful play of colors. The snow-covered peaks are particularly noteworthy. There are little trickles everywhere that can certainly become rivers under the right circumstances. At least the bridges above give you an idea 😅. There wasn't much to see of the Tasmanian Glacier. Patrick from Kaikoura said that a lot of ice came down from Mount Cook in an avalanche a few years ago. It was all very diverse and beautiful 🤗.
We would also like to explore the area from above. But if there's one thing you can say about New Zealand in spring: the weather is fickle! It's difficult to plan 🤷🏼♂️... We'll see, maybe we can manage it.
Good night from Twizel 😴.
