California: San Francisco to Monterey

On 24.04. we picked up our car at the airport in San Francisco and headed straight to Santa Cruz.

On our drive to the ocean, we also visited the headquarters of Facebook, Google, and Apple. Unfortunately, the big companies didn't open their campuses to tourists, so we could only move around the campus grounds, if at all. Nevertheless, it was very impressive to visit the companies that accompany our daily lives.

Arriving in Santa Cruz, we booked an affordable motel on the coast of the small town. The next morning, we briefly visited the pier and then made our way to Monterey.

After a short hour's drive, we arrived in the idyllic city and enjoyed our healthy lunch at 'The Wharf Marketplace'.

In the late afternoon, we drove along the breathtaking 17 Mile. We saw beautiful places, beach and coastal views on our route to Carmel-by-the-Sea. Due to the fact that there were hardly any hotels or villages to be found in Carmel-by-the-Sea, we decided to drive back and spend the night in Monterey, which was only 15 minutes away.

We are looking forward to visiting the famous Big Sur on 26.04.
