Earlier than originally planned, we have now left Thailand behind and made our way to Singapore. The day started early, at least for our standards. The alarm clock rang at 7:30 am and we left for the airport promptly at 9 am. The check-in and security checks went surprisingly smoothly, so we had plenty of time to have a relaxed breakfast. It wasn't easy to find something "normal" to eat, as there are many restaurants at a Thai airport that offer rice in all variations even in the morning. Eventually, we found a sandwich, which was enough for now.
Upon arriving in Singapore, the heat wave hit us hard. Since our arrival in Bangkok last week, we had been experiencing mild temperatures, but here we were greeted by 32 degrees. Based on our experiences with the train in the past few days, we headed straight for the public train, without even considering taxis. And it worked out great. With just one transfer, we were already close to our hotel. And the rest we did on foot. A navigation app with location function can be really helpful sometimes! It immediately shows you if you're going in the right direction! :)
Our hotel is located in the Little India district, a very colorful and relatively inexpensive neighborhood. After taking a shower, we went back to the city to visit the Gardens by the Bay. Originally, we wanted to quickly find a cheap place to eat and then watch the light show at the artificially constructed trees. Cheap didn't happen, because a hungry child is hard to bear :) So we ended up eating at the gardens. The subsequent light show was pretty awesome. Accompanied by thunderously loud opera music, there was a fantastic play of colors! People simply sat on the still warm stones or benches or even on the ground to watch the spectacle. Great atmosphere!
So, the first day here was already a great success. Tomorrow, we will continue our exploration!
