(This is how the writing looks here, just as a little aside 😂😂)
As can be easily seen, there are a few more language barriers here than in Vietnam - because you simply can't read anything 🤦🏽♀️
Well, anyway.
Yesterday morning we left at 8 to get from Phnom Penh to Battambang. Only 6 hours for 290 km this time, we're improving. We also thought we'd treat ourselves to a bit of luxury and book a minivan...................
What can we say. Next time we'll rather take a bus. 🤦🏽♀️
We have already talked about the roads here. But in a minivan, it's even worse 😡 every small pothole on the ground brought us closer to a concussion.
At 4 p.m., we were picked up by a tuk-tuk driver and taken to the hotel - for free, of course. Our room has a balcony and is huuuuuuge (20$ per night, including breakfast).
By the way, we can't take the Christmas tree too seriously at 30 degrees 🤦🏽♀️
Later, we just went to eat and otherwise we just chilled instead of being productive. However, we had the best pizza so far (of course directly from an Italian 🤤).
This morning we went for breakfast and then wandered around the city a bit. Much quieter than Phnom Penh - but also more retarded and dirtier.
Let's get back to the bad part. Unfortunately, the Khmer Rouge were also here 30 years ago. Since there was unfortunately no space to dig holes in a mountain, they simply threw people into these caves... "killing caves" 😕 We looked at a few of them, but then quickly moved on - it was once again not a nice feeling to stand on the places where people died.
Then we made our way to the top of the mountain. Along the way, we encountered countless monkeys 🐒. We don't mean people - but real monkeys.
Unfortunately, they need to be approached with caution... one attacked Lara and eventually scratched her shoe - thanks for nothing, you asshole 🖕🏼, in Hinduism you would clearly be reborn as a miserable rat 🐀.
There was then another temple and who knows what else 🤙🏽😂
Then after 1.5 hours, we walked back down to the actual main attraction.
There are bats 🦇 in all these caves. They come out by the millions at around 5:30 to search for food. At night, they return at around 5 a.m. to sleep.
We then saw them again on our way back over the fields.
After another concussion, we were back in town and went out to eat.
Now just relaxing on the rooftop terrace and later (by the way, it takes 60 minutes to upload 27 pictures here with the outstanding internet 🙈 that's why we don't feel like waiting one hour in front of the phone every day 🙄)
Sleeping sometime 😋 😴
