Lofoten: Arrival, Å to Reine

If the crossing to the Lofoten Islands was already impressive and promising, the Lofoten Islands themselves revealed as an unexpected paradise - or who expects an archipelago of hundreds of lush green mountain peaks with white sandy beaches and crystal clear water north of the Arctic Circle? A dream for residents and hobby anglers. Our first impressions from the village of Å, which serves as a living museum, were correspondingly deep and still lasting. Accordingly, we wanted to get an overview of this fascinating world the next day and found a perfect opportunity in the next small fishing village of Reine. So we struggled with a mountain climb not recommended by the tourist office, which demanded up to 70% ascent on mud, rocks, and unmade sections of the path. The view, however, rewarded these efforts completely.

A polarizing peculiarity of the Lofoten Islands are the thousands of stockfish drying (during our stay, only the heads were visible). A delicious specialty of macabre style?
