McLean Falls

Foillsichte: 25.04.2024

Hello my love,

I hope everything is going well for you and you are enjoying the changeable April weather in Europe. It is also raining here at the moment and so I spent my morning here at the campsite watching the second part of Lord of the Rings and now I am going to do a bit of blogging.

In this post I'll tell you about my trip from Owaka to Invercargill. I actually didn't plan to drive to Invercargill that day, but the campsite where I wanted to sleep wasn't really nice and my gut feeling told me I should drive a little further.

I made a stop at McLean Falls, a couple of waterfalls that were right on my route and that were recommended to me by another traveler.

This was also the first time I saw a Manuka tree. The plant from which the famous Manuka honey is made, which is exported worldwide and is known for its disinfectant properties.

The track to the waterfall was truly a dream and I caught a window of time when it wasn't raining. The path felt like I was walking along a path through a prehistoric era and through a jungle where a dinosaur could walk past me at any moment.

The walk only took an hour in total, but I definitely felt like I was on the road longer because I stopped so often to admire the area and the many lush green tones.

Took a closer look.

And here too, on my way back, I was able to hear and see a little singer. Can you spot him in the following photo?

I spent the night in Invercargill. The next morning, after a quick stop at the petrol station and the local supermarket, I headed to the Southlands with a few planned stops along the way.

I will write two separate posts about this. Until the next posts,

Your dinosaur expert Britta
