The mother of the hostel owner made us a simple but sufficient breakfast. We could drink as much delicious cafe con leche as we wanted. The Hostal Posada Casa Salento was by far the best accommodation so far, highly recommended.
Today we were very close to our next destination Filandia (no, it has nothing to do with Finland). Filandia is a small municipality in the Quindío Department in the coffee-growing region. It is the town in the region where a lot of the typical architecture is still preserved. Nice houses with small balconies painted in cheerful colors. Really beautiful. By the way, we are currently at an altitude of about 2,000 meters, so it's already alpine.
Actually, visiting a coffee farm was scheduled for today, but unfortunately, it was pouring rain. Too bad, but sometimes you have bad luck. Julia took the opportunity to sleep off her approaching cold 🤧 from the freezing bus. And since we couldn't visit a coffee farm, I at least had a few cups of coffee and explored the town during rain breaks.
Since we didn't have anything better to do because of the weather, the only item on the agenda for today was eating! For those who know us, you know that before we visit the 714th church of our lives, we prefer to eat something unidentifiable from the nearest street vendor.
According to the motto, everything other people eat cannot be poisonous, so we tried it. Also, the rule applies: You don't have to be hungry to eat. After all, I don't drink my seventh beer because I'm thirsty 😁
So for dinner, we followed a recommendation and went to "Helena Adentro". It was a place that could easily be found in Germany as well. Cleverly furnished, a great menu with Colombian cuisine, but slightly off the standard. It was delicious all around. For the first time in my life, I drank a Michelada. It's a beer with a large amount of lime juice, served in an ice-cold glass with a thick salt rim - really tasty.
