We are going together to visit Goran's mother, a kind, petite woman of 89 years, who lives alone in a house by Lake Mavrovo and manages to take care of herself there. Friederun and Goran have prepared a breakfast for us, which we enjoy with a magnificent view of the lake. The temperature is already 38 degrees in the morning. There is a great silence over this area, and we encounter very few people here. The landscape resembles a steppe, and trail markers are very sparse. After a hike, you find a lot of grass seeds in your shoes, which are difficult to get out of the socks. What must not be forgotten is sufficient water. There are no springs, and the sun can quickly cause dehydration.
