I arrived in Banjhe on December 28th, and unfortunately I had to leave this wonderful place exactly one month later. Sunday was my last day of work, and I handed over my SiteManager book to my successor. Like everyone else, I gave a farewell speech, packed my backpack, hugged so many people, and heard 'goodbye' and 'see you again / soon / at next project' so many times. My time in the project is over for now, but it has only just begun.
Typical sentences of the past weeks:
Yulia, how are you?
What do you want, I showered yesterday?!
How do I change the saw blade?
Do we have electricity?
Back to work!
Do we have new gloves?
Wear your PPE!
I don't even remember when I last showered.
Psssst! It's quiet hours!
Where are the screws?
Thik thik thik.
It's so cold / It's so hot today.
It's meeting time!
You've got 5 minutes to get into the car!
Has anyone seen my charging cable?
Look at these stars!
What is your name again?
Everything is dirty anyway.
Fill out a form!
Who else is waiting for the shower?
For the children!
Ramro chha!
Chandra Dai is driving me and seven others from Banjhe to the valley of Sindhuli. From there, we will take the jeep to Kathmandu. In the next few days, I still have to make a few visits and take care of things.
