Finally Travemuende

1. Day

Finally, the destination of our journey has been reached: Travemünde. Actually, it is called Lübeck-Travemünde. For me, it will always be 'Travemünde'.

The hotel 'aja' is located right at the entrance of the Trave and only a few steps away from the beach. Across from it, the PASSAT is waiting for visitors. The ship has been a museum for many years and is definitely worth a visit. However, at 23° and a light breeze, I am drawn to the beach. There might be Baltic amber and thunderbolts waiting for me. The beach offered me a small piece of Baltic amber, which I will gladly add to my collection. A snack for dinner and then the day was already over.

 2. Day

Still pleasant temperatures and no rain. The beach is still empty of people and dogs in the morning. Unfortunately, no Baltic amber can be found, not to mention a thunderbolt. So after a wonderful breakfast, it's time to explore the town. Slowly but surely, the Vorderreihe is filling up and the sun is breaking through the cloud cover. Many years ago, Travemünde built a terminal right in the middle of the town. Lots of glass and quite high. Today, I find a lot of clothing there. Curiously, I ask and find out that in July, a cruise ship will actually dock there. When there are no ships docking, the terminal is rented out. In December, for example, there is also a Christmas market with handicrafts. A beautiful idea and the hall doesn't just stand empty.

Food and drinks are represented in the Vorderreihe, as well as 'knick-knacks' and everything that people like to bring as a gift. But there are also many things that Travemünde residents need for their daily lives: pharmacies, bakeries, small supermarkets, opticians, hairdressers, and much more. It's always worth taking a look from the other side of the street - because of the beautiful houses. Thomas Mann certainly didn't see as many shops when he let the Buddenbrooks stroll here - but surely there were already some of these beautiful houses back then.

If you turn at the mole and follow the beach to rent one of the beautiful beach chairs, you will definitely see the MARITIM. In front of it, there are two beautiful small houses that luckily no one has torn down. A beautiful photo opportunity, which unfortunately many visitors simply pass by. It's not far to the MÖWENSTEIN, which is also mentioned in the Buddenbrooks, (the stone has somehow disappeared into the sea).

Dinner then in a large group at MARINA, the clubhouse of the Lübeck Yacht Club, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary. Learned something new again. The food and service were very good.

3. Day

The love of my life always claims that in the north, there are 300 days of rain out of 365 days and the wind always comes from the front. Unfortunately, I have never been to the North or Baltic Sea for so many days that I could confirm it.

It was raining this morning and an umbrella accompanied me to buy fish. Then the sun came out and the umbrella was forgotten for two hours. Showers keep the green spaces healthy and do not bother the strollers. Near the Priwall ferry, a crafts market is set up. As I mentioned before, that is always a destination for me - no matter what the weather is like. And then it happened: the rain. Luckily, there is not only covered outdoor seating in the Vorderreihe, but also enough seats indoors. Delicious fish is already programmed in Travemünde; choosing the right restaurant is more difficult.

Everything worked out, and later at CAFÉ MARLEEN, there was a wide selection of cakes. After that, there's no need for dinner anymore. Just a drink at the hotel bar, and the last day here is coming to an end.

What a pity.

See you soon.
