Cambio de planes/ Change of plan

¡Qué bueno verte! 🤗

Ya ha pasado otra semana. Esta semana ha sido un poco caótica.

El martes, en realidad tendríamos otro día de calificaciones. Pero se canceló porque varios estaban enfermos.

Luego, por la noche, la sorpresa. Dos empleados dieron positivo por Covid. Nos pidieron que dejáramos el rancho durante cuatro semanas. Así que eso significa ahora cuatro semanas de vacaciones de Navidad para nosotros en lugar de solo dos semanas. 😍

Mi plan original era volar a Virginia con mi compañera de cuarto primero durante la Navidad. Sin embargo, decidimos adelantar nuestros vuelos a ayer. Así que llamamos a la aerolínea para aclarar algunas cosas. De verdad me llamaron 'Salami van Ende'. 😂 Y luego, uno debería mantener la compostura durante la conversación. 😅

Muchos de nuestros estudiantes han estado intentando reservar o cambiar un vuelo para llegar a casa lo antes posible.

Ayer, entonces, comenzó nuestro viaje. Nos llevaron al aeropuerto de Pittsburgh, situado a 2 horas y media, por la mañana. Desayunamos en McDonald's. Yo quería una hamburguesa de pollo normal. El vendedor de McDonald's estaba confundido al principio. No sabía que aquí a una hamburguesa de pollo le llaman 'sándwich de pollo'. 😂 Pero creo que me entendió. Sin embargo, no tenían un 'sándwich de pollo'. Solo había un menú para el desayuno. Después de mi pedido, el vendedor de McDonald's se despidió de mí con estas palabras: '¡Que tengas un buen día, cariño!'. Entonces, me quedé confundida. 😂 Parece que aquí es normal.

Entonces, mientras movía mis boletos de un lado a otro sobre el escáner durante el embarque, la mujer me dijo: 'Manténlo quieto, cariño'. Nuevamente, tuve que sonreír. 😄

El cambio en el Aeropuerto Internacional Charlotte Douglas fue bastante fácil. De repente, hacía tanto calor cuando desembarcamos. Debe ser porque Virginia está más al sur. 😅 Sin embargo, tuvimos que esperar más de una hora para embarcar en nuestro vuelo de conexión. 😫

En el segundo vuelo, un hombre de 70 años se sentó a mi lado y me preguntó qué estaba haciendo aquí y cómo encontraba América. Tuvimos una conversación muy interesante. Me contó mucho sobre su vida y que había estado activo en el ejército. Me sorprendió cuando dijo que se había mudado 42 veces debido a su trabajo. Entre otros lugares, también vivió en Alemania, en los Países Bajos, en Croacia y en algunas partes de Asia y América. Fue muy amable y cuando vio que mi batería estaba casi agotada, simplemente me pasó su powerbank. Al final, me agradeció por la conversación y me dijo: '¡Hasta luego, cariño!'. 😂 Esa fue la culminación de los apodos. 😅

Así que, en general, ¡tuve un buen viaje! 🥰 ¡Estoy emocionada de explorar Virginia! ;D

Definitivamente me pondré en contacto nuevamente y les mantendré informados.

Another week has gone by. This week has been a bit of a mess.

On Tuesday we would have had another grading day. But this was canceled because several were sick.

Then in the evening the shock. Two employees tested positive for Covid. We were asked to leave the ranch for four weeks. So that means four weeks of Christmas vacation for us now instead of just two weeks. 😍

My plan was originally to fly to Virginia with my roommate first over Christmas. However, we decided to move our flights up to yesterday. So we called the airline to clarify a few things. They seriously called me 'Salami van Ende' after all. 😂 And then you should still pull yourself together during the conversation. 😅

Many of our students have been trying to book or change a flight to get home as soon as possible.

Then yesterday our trip started. We were taken to the Pittsburgh airport 2 1/2 hours away in the morning. We had breakfast at McDonalds. I wanted a regular chicken burger. The McDonald salesman was confused at first. I didn't know they called a chicken burger a 'chicken sandwich' here. 😂 But I think he understood me. They still didn't have a 'chicken sandwich' though. There was only the card for breakfast. After my order, the McDonald salesman said goodbye to me with these words. I quote,' Have a good day, babe!'. Then, I was confused. 😂 Seems to be normal here.

Then as I was moving my tickets back and forth over the scanner during boarding the woman said to me,' Hold it still, Honey.' Again, I had to grin. 😄

The change into Charlotte Douglas International Airport was quite easy. It was suddenly so warm when we got off the plane. Must be because Virginia is more to the south. 😅 However, we had to wait over an hour to board our connecting flight. 😫

On the second flight, a 70-year-old man sat next to me and asked me what I was doing here and how I was finding America. We had a very interesting conversation. He told me a lot about his life and that he had been active in the military. I was amazed when he said that he has moved 42 times because of his job. Among others, he also lived in Germany, in the Netherlands, in Croatia and in some parts of Asia and America. He was very nice and when he saw that my battery was almost dead, he just gave me his powerbank. At the end he thanked me for the conversation and said to me:' See you later, Sweetheart!' 😂 That was then the crowning of the designations. 😅

So on the whole I had a good trip! 🥰 I'm excited to explore Virginia! ;D
