Rushing, steaming, whistling.
Tracks, iron, romance.
Wind, puffing sounds, squeaking.
Kühlungsborn station, the Molli has arrived - a 100-year-old historic train with beautiful carriages. The black steam locomotive hisses, reminding us of Jim Button's story. All passengers gather as close as possible to the railway embankment to take the best photo. I also lean far over the track bed. I already have these pictures and videos from our summer vacation in 2014 and therefore only occasionally take something very special. I have been looking forward to this trip for a long time, because it is really romantic to travel through the forests and small villages with this train. Being gently rocked by the movements of the rattling train over the rails, letting the wind blow through my hair, and simply looking out into the world...
So we take a seat in one of the beautiful carriages and impatiently wait for the signal, for it to hiss properly and for the locomotive to finally start. It's wonderful when you can stand outside and feel the train gaining speed. It's raining hard. We timed it just right. The journey takes about 40 minutes, if I remember correctly, and we have enough time to enjoy the breeze and look out or sit in the carriage on one of these wonderfully restored and comfortable nostalgic seats. I feel like a noble lady. This is our second trip with this train. We were here five years ago and spent the summer near Binz. They are beautiful memories that we associate with this train, so we let time be time and now experience our journey together to arrive. The sky becomes very gray and it is raining heavily on the way. It doesn't look like summer, but we are protected. So I have an intense desire for coffee. A couple across from me smiles as I tell my husband that we have to stop at the coffee house once we get off here. We continue to the final stop in Bad Doberan and then simply return until the city center of Bad Doberan reappears in front of us. The train stops, lets plenty of passengers get off and back on, spectators everywhere on the roadside. Busy pedestrians escape the rain. Umbrellas, tourists, photographers, children. We also leave the train and quickly run into the coffee house, which is my desire. In its beautiful interior, we immediately take in the pleasant scent of coffee and freshly baked goods. Our curiosity for many colorful delights is great, and we enjoy a little bit of everything, of course with a large coffee. The second breakfast is open. We sit by the window and watch the busy people outside as if in an aquarium. Thinking of my dear father, who loved cake, all four of us eat a piece for him. The rain subsides, it becomes warm and sunny.
