Day of departure. Checkout is at 12:00 PM, which means we leave our room at 11:57 AM. Yesterday, we spoke with a guide about our return trip to Bali. We agreed with him to take the ferry back at 2:15 PM. We get ice cream, sit on a stone wall on the beach, and wait there for 90 minutes. The guide's friend has reserved tickets for us on the ferry and offers to drive us to the pier (even though it's only 1.5 kilometers). The problem, if there is one, is that the man only has a scooter, not a car. Since we both have about 25 kilograms of luggage, it means he has to drive us individually - I almost fall off the scooter three times during the ride, and we get stuck on a speed bump and have to push - too fat for ballet. I get off at the pier, he goes back and picks up Jonna. In the meantime, I take care of the ferry tickets. Jonna's transportation is smoother.

Again, we wait about 15 minutes until we can board the ferry. Unfortunately, this time we have to go to the inner cabin, which turns out to be extremely stuffy, as expected. Opening the windows is not an option because then we might as well have been pulled through the water behind the ship.

The bumpy crossing is tough on Jonna and the boat shouldn't have taken five minutes longer. Well, I guess it's all good - we'll need motion sickness tablets for the next boat ride.

The 'exit' is as follows: You jump into waist-high water fully clothed and with your carry-on baggage (including all electronic devices) and go ashore. Then you nervously watch the crew members carry two suitcases and three backpacks at once through the surf - please, please, please don't stumble.

Although the way to our accommodation is only 10 minutes long, we are very exhausted when we arrive there, also because we got briefly lost once. However, the room is cool, the water is warm, and the beds are soft, which immediately lifts our spirits.

We shower, then collapse into bed and doze off for a few hours before we look for something to eat in the area. We find a "warung," where many locals are sitting (always a good sign), and get noodles and rice, as is often the case.

On the way back, we quickly do some shopping, then go to sleep.
