Wir fassen es nicht! Ist das WOMO auf See oder nicht?Publisearre: 12.03.2020
A year of planning
* Quitting job or applying for a one-year sabbatical
* Visiting the US consulate in Berlin for a visa and filling out a lot of documents
* Obtaining an international driver's license
* Offering house through a real estate agent, surviving various viewings and cleaning beforehand
* Finding a buyer and scheduling an appointment with a notary
* Moving out and handing over the house to the new owners
* Storing furniture and household items
* Renting a temporary apartment
* Picking up a new camper at the dealer in Bavaria (delayed)
* Returning to the north on the same day to convert it to use gas for the USA
* Booking the shipment of the camper to the USA
* Booking flights
* Buying a transport box for the dog
* Changing the flight (additional cost) because the limited number of seats for dogs were already booked (big thanks to Michi)
* Modifying mobile phone contracts for increased data volume and use in the USA
* Renting a house in Denmark to bridge the time the camper is at sea being shipped to the USA. And to spend some more time with our families before we are away for a year
* Booking long-term international health insurance for the USA
* Applying for an expensive camper insurance for the USA
* Saying goodbye to colleagues with tangible anticipation of the big adventure
!!! CORONA VIRUS - TRAVEL BAN TO THE USA FOR AT LEAST 30 DAYS AND UNCERTAINTY ABOUT TRAVEL POSSIBILITIES WITHIN EUROPE !!!
'shit happens' - we make the best of it and wait for at least 30 days.
If entry into the USA is possible again afterwards, the trip is 'only' postponed. Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
We still have a smile on our faces and the scent of freedom in our noses...
Best regards from Triene, Thomas and Janina
PS: Pictures of the camper will follow :0)
