'Magnetic Island' actually got its name because the rocks on the island are magnetic.
But for us, the name comes from the fact that the island is soooo magical!
On our 2 year anniversary, we rented a convertible and drove around the island to all the beautiful hidden beaches that are only accessible with a 4WD due to the huge potholes on the roads.
Our day started with a challenging hike to a lookout platform from World War II. It was a 3 km uphill climb with stairs, and it was 35 degrees in the sun. I almost passed out at the top 😀 But it was worth it: the view was amazing and we even saw a koala on the way!
We visited a total of 5 beaches where there was no one else. The beaches were stunning, although the water was like a hot tub 😀 So not very refreshing...
So it was a really exhausting, yet relaxing day!
Even our hostel didn't feel like a hostel, as it consisted of many small beach bungalows!
We had a great, albeit short, adventure on Magnetic Island!
