Hello dear ones,
I have been sitting down in the past few days and working on a little blog (which in the end was not so little.. :-D) to give you an insight into our experiences of the past five weeks, as unfortunately we probably won't be able to see each other very soon, as the seriousness of life begins for me and you always have plenty to do.
Our journey started in Ulm, where we got together two days before departure with all our friends (whom you could mostly meet at the graduation ball :-) ) for a housewarming party in a new doctors' shared flat, and we were able to say goodbye to everyone. How fitting!
The day after the party, still tired and slightly hungover, we continued to Munich, from where our plane departed for Houston the next day at 11 o'clock sharp.
After 16 hours of flight time and an unplanned extended layover in Houston, we finally arrived in San Jose at 2 a.m., significantly delayed. We were greeted by a friendly hostel receptionist with a Guanabanabanabnaaa shot! :-)
The Guanabana fruit, which we had never heard of before, was incredibly delicious and we encountered it several times on our journey... definitely try it if you ever get the chance to see it somewhere!
We didn't have high expectations for Costa Rica's capital city due to the stories we heard, so we used the first stop to adjust to the new time zone (-7 hours), take a walk through the city, and try the first tacos and casados (the typical lunch dish, consisting of rice, beans, salad/vegetables, meat, and plenty of Iguana sauce).
