When we arrived at our alien campsite a week ago, we noticed that our license plate was hanging halfway down and the underbody protection on the front of the car had crashed halfway down. We were first puzzled about how this could have happened because we didn't notice anything. The next day, I had to contact our car rental company to ask what we should do, whether we could continue driving. They simply said to keep driving to the next city and get it repaired there! (The nearest major city was 1000 km away). Everything was fine for 500 km and the next day, after half an hour of driving, it crashed on both sides and then dragged on the ground, so I had to make an emergency stop and pull over! Standing on the side of the road somewhere in the middle of nowhere where a car passes by every hour, we were lucky that an Australian stopped and could help us secure it.
Then the journey could continue. After a few days in the car with longer drives and overnight stays at free campsites, we arrived in Townsville today. Now we have to wait for the weather conditions because rain and flooding are predicted for the east coast.
