Fundy National Park in New Brunswick

Publisearre: 14.08.2018

At seven in the morning, the alarm clock went off because we wanted to see the Reversing Falls.

In Saint John, the sun was rising...

...the Knauer family was already on their way.

We walked for about 40 minutes to the Reversing Falls. Aaron was thrilled to hike early in the morning. His excitement is evident in his facial expressions and gestures...

The Reversing Falls is the tidal bore of the St. John River into the Bay of Fundy. The tide here is so strong that the river flows backwards and creates high waves during high tide. Powerful whirlpools form during low tide. Only for 20 minutes a day, when the lowest point of the ebb is reached, can a boat pass through this area.

Very impressive!

After returning to the hotel, we checked out and headed to Fundy National Park.

This national park was named after Al Bundy's distant cousin, Jim Fundy, and is located directly on the Bay of Fundy.

This park is just as magnificent as Acadia National Park. Endless forests and roads...

...beautiful lakes...

...and waterfalls, as well as a breathtaking coast.

We immediately felt at home here, I don't know why...

In the park, we took a hike through the woods to a waterfall...

...which took us an hour there and Nicole and Aaron two hours back through the wilderness (the two of them wanted to show off and took a different, longer way back).

Nicole and Aaron also saw more waterfalls, rivers, and the rare, delicate, and beautiful Papparazzi bear...

...while I had to fear for my life: I was attacked by a wild animal and could only defeat it with all my strength...

Nicole's and Aaron's path was probably very exhausting...

...their own fault!

The road that leads through the park ends spectacularly at the Bay of Fundy...

From Fundy Park, our journey took us to Moncton, where we made a stopover on our way to Nova Scotia.

There, we ate at Swiss Chalet. They had the typical Swiss specialties: grilled chicken, spare ribs, and pierogies!

Nicole tried the Swiss ribs...

We left the restaurant yodeling and went to our hotel, the "Amsterdam Inn".

Fortunately, there are no Dutch people here, but there are Chinese people who tried to enter our room at eleven o'clock at night. They had booked the room next door and apparently couldn't read Arabic numbers.

So I had to give them a mean look. It worked!!!

Tomorrow we're going to Pictou in Nova Scotia. But without the Chinese people.
