In the morning, after waking up and getting ready for the day, we went to the reception for breakfast. They served homemade banana and chocolate muffins or blueberry muffins. Balanced and healthy. Our innkeeper had a few tips for us, and off we went to the park.
Our first stop was Echo Lake. A warm freshwater lake, just a kilometer away from the ocean.
We cooled off and then got heated up, in the form of sunburn. At least we get to see a few redskins...
After swimming, we explored the southern peninsula of the park and drove from one scenic viewpoint to another.
We're all in this photo! If you look closely, you'll find us!!!
Among other things, we visited the most photographed object in the park, the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.
Interestingly, you could take photos however you wanted, but entering the government-owned grounds around the lighthouse was strictly forbidden. It was nothing but grass and an old building. But maybe that's where the recipe for Coca-Cola is kept...
To finish off, we tried a recommendation from our innkeeper and ate at "Thurston's Lobster Pound" (Thurston’s, not Thorsten’s).
We had lobster, in the form of a sandwich. The Lobster BLT (Bacon Lettuce Tomato) was delicious. Aaron had a cheeseburger made from cattle fed exclusively with lobster.
Here's the local cocktail specialty: Lobster Claw Bloody Mary! (Referring to the drink, the lady is the local specialty from Gelsenkirchen-Horst)
Lobster BLT... delicious !!!!!!
On the way back home, we stopped by the local Walmart Superstore to buy after-sun lotion and sunscreen.
Tomorrow we'll take the shuttle bus to the park and go hiking!!!
Aaron is already excited....
