Today was our last day here in Sweden and it was also one of the most beautiful! First, we explored Gothenburg a bit, since we didn't have time for that yesterday due to the unexpected animal incident in the morning. The weather is still a bit crazy and it's raining and storming on and off, so we quickly decided to move on, as we were looking forward to a furry event: Moose safari! The special thing about it was that you could drive through the park in your own car and experience the moose up close! The park is the size of 25 football fields and very realistic. A real paradise for moose! During the safari, you are not allowed to leave the car, but the windows can be opened and if you're very lucky, a moose will come very close. We had this luck! Of course, we were well prepared and collected some branches and twigs beforehand to offer them something. When we saw the first moose in close proximity, we first practiced patience, waved twigs in the car, and were happy about every little moose attention. We were ready to give up and look for the next moose when suddenly the beautiful moose lady approached us and actually ate our carefully picked twigs. She came so close that we could easily pet her and in the meantime, we had to make sure that she didn't honk the horn with her gigantic head. We both immediately fell in love and could hardly believe our luck! After the hungry moose lady had eaten all the twigs, she went on her way and we continued slowly and speechlessly. We would never have imagined that the same thing would happen to us again, as there were no more twigs left and the moose seemed very tired and full. But then we met a younger moose who was begging at the passenger window, after we had lured him a few times. At first, we wondered what he wanted, as he rejected the last remaining little twig. But when Maxine started petting him, he was immediately satisfied and let himself be pampered for a while, until he continued to look for a quiet sleeping place, as we later discovered. Another, slightly older moose lady stood half on the road as we slowly approached her and we were also allowed to pet her. What stood out about her were the adorable little cheek pouches while she chewed. Moose are ruminants and this was particularly noticeable with her. These beautiful, gentle, big-eared, and fluffy giants simply captivated us and we are definitely fans today! In our second round, we were lucky with the bisons, who also live in this moose park, because we could pet both Senior and Junior Bison and observe them up close. Especially when the smallest of the bisons warmed up on the hood of our car, we were thrilled.
It was just perfect for both of us! As everyone who knows us knows, we simply can't live without animals, and this day was perfect for that. We couldn't have asked for a better ending! We are so happy, but also a bit nostalgic when we think that tomorrow we will start the journey back home. However, we are also very excited to see our loved ones at home!
