After the sun comes rain...

Publisearre: 21.08.2022

What was special yesterday? The Pont de Normandie, with a span of 856 m, the largest in Europe, or the medieval harbor town of Honfleur?

The spectacular Pont de Normandie crosses the mouth of the Seine, connecting Le Havre on the right bank in the north with Honfleur on the left bank in the south. The bridge was built between 1988 and 1994 (Total length: 2,141 m), which might impress some Berliners...

We parked our Vito outside the city gates and strolled in. Wandering through the cobblestone alleys, we explored this beautiful coastal town. If there was still a proper beach here, you probably couldn't even walk, but there isn't - only Norman half-timbered houses, narrow streets, lots of knick-knacks, salted caramel ice cream, plenty of restaurants, and the most expensive sweets in France. But this once important port in Normandy still has something very special: a unique wooden church - with two naves and a completely separate bell tower on the opposite side of the square. I can understand why all artists have stayed here at the harbor. The narrow, up to 7-story houses look original and almost scream to be painted.

Today's day fits into this entry, as it was very calm. In the sunshine, we walked towards Étretat and the rain. We met too soon and gave in, huddled under our awning, planned, snacked, and chatted our way through a relaxed day. Étretat is postponed until tomorrow...Weather online promises 12 hours of sunshine. ,-)
