Chapter 5.5 - Off to the Cave

9:30am

I wake up well-rested. I quickly freshen up and then have breakfast. I also drop off some laundry. Then, I meet Julian at the bakery at 11am. He told me about it yesterday and it sounded really delicious. Perfect provisions for the day. I'm curious where we're going today.

I just noticed that my neck is peeling. Stupid sunburn.

10:30am

I'm sitting in a house next to my homestay and I ordered English Breakfast, a fruit salad, and a coffee Sua Da. Total cost is 180k, about 7€. It's quite a high price for Vietnam, but it's worth it to me.

I'll rent a motorbike soon and try to get a towel for showering. There was unfortunately none in my room.

By the way, the 'German Shepherd' just did three rounds through the restaurant and is now chilling on the veranda.

10:58am

Bag packed. Scooter rented. I'm meeting Julian shortly. The breakfast filled me up. The first time in almost 2 weeks. Delicious.

12:18pm

We're setting off. We joined 4 Germans and rented a boat. We're now going to the Phong Nha Cave. I'm excited. 242k per person. Just under 10€ for a 3-hour boat tour with six people.

The water has a beautiful turquoise color, the mountains look very impressive, and the landscape is breathtaking. Wow.

5:55pm

Julian and I are still sitting by the water. He's leaving for Ninh Binh at 9pm, so I probably won't see him after today. The Phong Nha Cave was very interesting. Afterwards, we went to the Duck Stop with some Irish people that Julian had met before I arrived in Phong Nha. It was quite fun, but also a bit boring. Tomorrow, I'll start earlier and plan my tour for today. Maybe with Kevin and Roisin, two of the three Irish people.

6:54pm

I'm back at the homestay. Said goodbye to Julian. Now I'm chilling at the homestay and planning my trips for tomorrow and the day after.

9:00pm

I'm at the Indian restaurant. I had Palak Paneer and two Garlic Naan for dinner. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos because my hands were really greasy. Now I'll have a Mango Lassie and then go to my room. Maybe chat with my cloud for a bit and then go to sleep. Tomorrow, I have a few things on the tour list and I want to get up early.

Just wanted to say good night already ;)
