Our last day in Costa Rica

Now we have reached the end of our journey. Today we are driving back to San Jose and tomorrow morning our flight departs. We are very excited to go back to Germany, we have seen and experienced a lot here. It has been a beautiful vacation. We are deeply relaxed.

The only thing we didn't like here are the prices. And sometimes the food. Most of the time, we got very small portions for a lot of money, about 7 €, and if we were unlucky, it didn't taste good. Especially in tourist areas, it was even more expensive and less food. It was no better in local restaurants because we were still tourists and there they also served small portions of food and adjusted the prices. Eventually, I started to expect that for so much money I wanted to have a decent meal once a day. Well, as it always goes, in the end I mostly had bad luck and Oli didn't care, he was lucky and somehow ordered something delicious. Today, you won't believe it, out of frustration, I went to McDonald's in San Jose and ordered a fish burger with fries and a cola. And it was even tasty. Haha. Almost better than some dishes.

The mosquitoes also drove me crazy here, I'm covered in bites and Oli doesn't have a single one. Very strange, right? It's not understandable? And especially, I sleep under my own mosquito net every night, wear long clothes in the evening, and also spray extra mosquito repellent on my feet and hands, and Oli walks around in shorts and a t-shirt in the evening!? Hm well.

What we found out is that we both prefer the Caribbean side. In comparison, the Pacific coast was even hotter in terms of climate and the sea was even warmer. And the landscape was very dry. We didn't like the south at all because we were only in a bay and there was no possible way to cool down. The water was like a hot spring.

We miss tap water and dark bread. And being able to have a conversation in our language again. We are simply looking forward to going back home. Furthermore, we appreciate the well-developed roads in Germany. It is really exhausting to drive on gravel roads. At first it's fun, but eventually not anymore. Lol. The different animals and birds make quite a noise, there are animals that sound like sirens. Lol. On the other hand, some are very pleasant and nice to listen to.
