We had the only vegetarian dish on the menu - homemade pasta with porcini mushrooms. The service was amazing. We received a small appetizer before the meal, and with the bill, we were each given a local schnapps.
Ghaya and I were tired again, but nevertheless, we really wanted to go out. There is the famous bar Szimpla, which was uniquely designed. There were old functioning PCs from the 80s/90s (I have no idea, but definitely old!) hanging on the walls, and neon colors were used to make the different rooms glow. In one room, there was a life drawing session, and in another, there was a techno dance floor. While we were looking for a table, we discovered countless decorative elements.Since we didn't want to spend the evening just the two of us, I invited 5 Couchsurfers whom I had been messaging the night before. I assumed that maybe 1 or 2 would come. To make a long story short, in the end, there were 9 very different people who probably would never have met without the app. From the two Turks who worked as geriatric nurses in Germany, to a very funny local who had even lived in Frankfurt, Claudia, a Polish woman who was working remotely and missed her flight because of our night, to the two people who didn't define themselves as either Slovenian or Hungarian and were working on their master plans on how to retire at 40.
A wonderfully diverse group. Everyone had something to share, and we exchanged travel experiences. We went to a couple of other ruin bars, and the last drink we wanted to have at 12 took a bit longer. We ended with a palinka that tasted like Obstler (urgh) and a 'Miau' sound.
