At 8:20 in the morning, our minibus came to pick us up from the hostel. Before that, we had to say goodbye to our dear Thai bar friends Yuttana, Kanny, and Keck. They even made us a packed lunch for the journey.
The journey back to the ferry was once again very bumpy. We could also say goodbye to our favorite accident spot. When we arrived at the station, Annika felt sick.. luckily, we continued on the rocking ferry. During the crossing, we were used as a photo attraction by several Asians.
Once safely back on the mainland, we had to wait for another hour before continuing to Bangkok on our V.I.P. coach.
The bus had plenty of space and the seats could almost be reclined. The originally 6-hour bus ride was quite relaxed, until we made a short stop in the middle of the highway just before Bangkok. When we asked, we were told that the bus driver had unfortunately forgotten to refuel. But no problem. He just took a taxi and went to get gasoline from the nearest gas station.. half an hour.. he was gone.
After half an hour, the police came to secure the area with 3 cones. There were already rumors whether the driver would even come back, as he could possibly lose his driver's license.
After a good 1 1/2 hours, the nice Thai guy came back with a big smile and 2 canisters. We continued on.
During the nice waiting time, we met 2 Swedes who then took us to their hostel in Bangkok, as we hadn't booked one for that night yet. Luckily, the 'Flappy Duck' Hostel had a room available.
