On the first day in Wellington, we visited the typical tourist attractions. In the morning, we climbed Mount Victoria, from which we had a great view of the entire city. Afterwards, we took the Cable Car and then explored Cuba Street.
On Wednesday, I met up with Kaja, with whom I graduated from high school. She is currently in Wellington visiting her old host family, where she spent 3 months 4 years ago and is now visiting again.
For the rest of the days, I visited the museum, explored the coastal areas, went to the Night Market on Cuba Street on Friday, and listened to live music there. On Friday evening, I spontaneously met up with Clara and Leanne again, which was really nice. It was great to see them after 2 months and we had so much to catch up on and it was interesting to hear about their experiences.
On Saturday, I took the ferry to the South Island and continued to Blenheim on Sunday, where I wanted to look for work again. Here, I also met Sophia again after 2 days, who had taken the ferry on Friday. Through a friend from Napier, I had already contacted a contractor in the area, but on Monday morning at 6 o'clock we went to the pickup location for all the vineyard workers to try our luck, but they just told us to message the mentioned number and they will contact us when they need new people. Disappointed, we went back to sleep and on Monday we made some phone calls. Then, on Tuesday afternoon, we suddenly received a joyful text message saying that if we were still looking for work, we could meet at the pickup location on Wednesday at 6 in the morning and start working. So, as planned, on Wednesday at 5, the weather rang. The first day was pretty tough, as we were told that the whole group was working too slow and imprecisely and that there are hundreds of others who want the job and we will simply be fired if we continue like this. He was right, of course. Slightly depressed and not excited for the next day, we went to bed early again. On Thursday, we could only start working from 11 o'clock, as it had rained before. A better task awaited us and so the second day passed without any negative words, although there was some internal pressure. Today we also had to do two different tasks, both of which were relatively easy. So let's see how long I will stay in this place now, but as long as I don't get fired, I plan to stay here for a few weeks to refill my travel fund. The weather here is really great, except for a few showers every few days, and even at work, you can get a tan 👩🏽
