Approximately 7 floating restaurants, some hostels, houses, and a supermarket make up Kuala Tahan, our new home in the middle of the jungle. We reached this small village with a 2-hour boat ride through the jungle. From here, all day and multi-day tours start for those who want to venture into the wilderness.
We decided to only do a night walk and "Rapid shooting" with a visit to a local village afterwards. But before that, we had a jungle tour with the canopy walk on the agenda. Unfortunately, the 3-hour circuit through the wilderness didn't go far enough into the forest to find larger animals. In the evening, we were supposed to have more luck as a guide showed us all kinds of insects at night. Apparently, we even saw wild boars🙈
The next day, we went to visit the locals. On the way, we actually expected to encounter large rapids because we were definitely going to get wet. However, we didn't expect the local people's driving skills, and they really made sure that we got wet. When we arrived in the village, we were introduced to the art of making fire and were able to see the blowpipes used for hunting. All in all, a very interesting trip.
Arriving back in the village completely soaked, our bus headed back to KL the next morning.
