After the already mentioned cozy journey from the north (about 30 hours in total), we finally arrived at our cozy hostel Trafalgar Cottages on Boracay.
A certain adjustment was definitely necessary. We knew that we would encounter significantly more tourists in Boracay than in the north, but we underestimated how many there would be (especially on weekends). The small island is known for its over 3km long White Beach, which turns into a complete party mile in the evening. Suddenly, we had arrived in the Asian version of Mallorca. Definitely worth a visit with a lot of beach bars and shows.
In search of some peace and quiet for the next day, we were recommended Ilig-Ilig Beach in the northeast of the island. A short tricycle ride later, we were able to relax in the shade in peace and far away from the party beach. We only visited the party beach in the evening after getting slightly sunburned despite having a spot in the shade.
James, our new friend, had already organized our first snorkeling tour for the next day. Unfortunately, we couldn't visit all the areas due to the high waves, but we made a stop at Puka Beach (which Simi had recommended to us rightly) and returned in time to our accommodation to spend our first real tropical rainy day protected.
Now we are at the airport again, this time on our way to Malapascua, where the first dives are planned. Let's see if Bounty Beach can compete with Ilig-Ilig Beach.
