Mi 8.9. Hamnøy - Vikten - Unstad - Eggum

Lots of rain, occasionally dry and even a short period of sunshine, lots of wind

Last night there was heavy storm and howling at times, we have to wait for rain-free times to fix the bicycle tire and load the car in the morning. Then we take our time and visit some of the places that were mentioned in Reinhards photo workshop and where we haven't been before.

We really like the glass blowing workshop in Vikten, we also buy an oil lamp made with very old quartz rock from the region.

Afterwards we visit beaches, despite the weather. There is a lot going on in Haukland and Uttakleiv, many people do the round walk from one beach to the other and back. We find a sheltered spot with a view of the rough sea, eat our lunch sandwiches, drink hot tea. On the way to Unstad we see a Demeter dairy and buy different types of goat cheese. The beach is a surfer hotspot and we watch someone trying to get into the sea and onto the wave through the strong surf.

In our spacious cottage in Eggum with a view of the sea we settle in and then go to the beach here. This beach is not in a bay, but on a peninsula and offers an unobstructed view from the west over the north to the east. We are thrilled because the beach is wide and sandy, and above all there is no one here except us.
