Day 4 - It should be the sea

Julkaistu: 06.07.2018

I should drive 279km today to finally stand comfortably by the sea. But let's start with the rainy morning.

I don't stay long in the night-time creepy and boring parking lot. Besides, I was woken up by loud rain. After a hot coffee, I wanted to leave Maribor. The plan is - towards the sea. It rained and rained and rained. Cool, at least my dust will be washed off. I had to wait in front of the sports shop for a short time and wonder why humans want to run as well. Well... let's go to the sea!

Stop.

Of course, we stop in Ljubljana at 12 o'clock, find a great parking spot for 5€, and have to wait there for 3 hours guarded. In the middle of the old town. I've been told that the city is simply very, very beautiful. Besides many bridges and old buildings, a castle and a great cathedral. It's definitely worth a city trip. Loaded with fresh chanterelles and blueberries, apricots and peaches, we are now heading towards the sea. I think we will stay longer than just one night.

Explore Slovenia - let's start on the coast in Croatia. We drive through the country, across Slovenia. I've stopped counting the tunnels and bridges that accompany our way. The expression tunnel vision takes on a whole new meaning. Incredible mountains rise on the left and right. A bit like Austria - only with a lot more vineyards, fields, and forests. It's green, really green everywhere, and not to forget, it's still raining. Only about 50km before the Croatian border, the weather suddenly gets better, the sun is shining, and my thermometer is steadily rising.

Jipiiii, there is no vignette and we only drive to Istria. The campsite sounds promising. Hopefully, we will find a place - but I'm Svensson and flexible, of course.

After a short check, the pitch is booked. We will stay until Tuesday - maybe even longer. I get a place with a sea view. That way, I can endure it and my tent still fits me. Last year, I found myself incredibly beautiful with my Palma Easy Air, almost a bit sexy.

I'm standing, looking at the sea, listening to the waves, and enjoying that I can stay here. First, I have to arrive, relax, and do nothing.

A short time later, the wet swimwear lands on the clothesline and I smell the salt water. Ohhh... I can't enjoy it because the smell of chanterelles with pesto and fresh tomatoes is already in the air, with spelt spaghetti. I only like diesel and occasionally AdBlue.

Then we enjoy the peace and the sea and listen to the waves until we close our tired eyes.
