Mai-Dump 🌸/ May dump 🌸

Julkaistu: 31.05.2023

Hey hey ☀️

There it is, the May update. Even on time...

The preparations for the exams in the summer semester are already in full swing. I told you about the explainer piece we have to do in Video Journalism. In the meantime, we have already started shooting our video about the production of honey and the explanation of honey myths. 🎥🐝 In the picture gallery, you can get a little insight into what it looked like. We couldn't avoid jumping into a canola field to capture wild bees on camera. 🌸 Next Saturday, we will film the honey extraction.

In the university, we have also started a new course. In photojournalism, we were shown the proper use of a camera, as we have to do a photo reportage as our final project. My previous work with the camera on the American ranch came in very handy. In the pictures, you can see two group pictures with students. We were supposed to line up like a band to practice a bit with the camera. 📸

For the exam in audio journalism, I thought about accompanying a hunter on a hunt, as there are more and more deer in the woods causing damage. 🦌 In the Journalistic Basics course, I might portray a midwife as my reportage topic to highlight the profession of midwifery in society. 🤰 The problem here is that many birthing clinics are closing due to better compensation for midwives in the hospital.

In June, I also visited a friend in Nuremberg. With the Germany ticket, you can get almost anywhere. 😉 I got the Germany ticket for this month because I didn't have a car for a month. But this problem was quickly solved because a friend lent me one of her cars. It's quite nice there if you know the right places. The old town is really beautiful with its colorful half-timbered houses. 🏠

During Pentecost, I was at the Pfijuko (Pentecostal Youth Conference) in Siegen. It's a Christian event where up to 2,500 young people between the ages of 17 and 27 come together to praise God, learn about Him, and have fellowship. ☺️ It's always nice to see friends that you don't often see and, of course, spend time with friends from home. 🙃

Other than that, it's worth mentioning that I became an aunt last Thursday. 🙋🏼‍♀️ I got to hold such a sweet little niece in my arms. 😍 We were all that small once. 🥺 It definitely doesn't increase the pressure for me to have children soon, as I'm the second oldest sibling. 😂

Something else I can tell you about is the completion of our terrace. 😃 Well, the lawn around it is still missing, but for now, I think it's important that we can sit outside in the nice weather. In our shared apartment, we're already thinking about what we want to have in the garden. A grill, a fire pit, and possibly a pool are at the top of the list. Oh, and also a privacy screen for the street so that everyone doesn't glare at us. 🤣

In June, I'm going to Munich for a day to visit two friends from California who are doing a tour of Europe. That's going to be really cool. 😄

Other than that, it's going to be stressful again with all the submissions. The summer semester is much shorter than the winter semester. If all goes well, I'll be done with the second semester by early/mid-July. It's unbelievable 😳, I can welcome the third semester as early as October this year. 👋🏻

This semester, I also chose an elective module called Cultural Process. For this, I am part of a theater ensemble. Our performance is on June 28. Let's see if we can manage to pull it off by then. Because of all the exams and the students from various courses coming together, it's unfortunately rare to find times when everyone is available. It will probably be a scaled-down version that we will perform. Well, fortunately, we have already completed our exam in this course. 😅 It was a short test on a theory and a group presentation.

I'm looking forward to the lecture-free period because I have something cool planned. 🤭 I can't reveal it yet, but you will understand why when the time comes...

Well, that's the May update. 😊

In June, I will tell you about my stress level there and whether I manage to complete everything in the set time.

Until then. 😇

Nun gut, das zum Mai-Update. 😊

Im Juni werde ich euch dann von meinem dortigen Stress-level berichten und ob ich alles in der gesetzten Zeit schaffe/ geschafft habe.

Bis dann. 😇
