Old town, new friends

Julkaistu: 18.03.2018

Yeah, we love Leon. That's why we had to come back, and also because we were recommended a Spanish school here. No problem in Nicaragua because the distances on the Pacific side are more than manageable. We can get from the beach village El Transito to Leon in 2 1/2 hours. We decide to take a week of language course with Carolina. Already on the first day we are sure that she is the right teacher for us and we have a lot of fun with her. But something is still missing on this trip... the music. The maraca that I brought with me to make music somehow doesn't make me very happy. I need a guitar! Basti and I set out to find a music store. Unfortunately, we have no luck in the first one, no travel guitars. But we are recommended another store. Off, there! They dig out a small guitar from the last corner. Together with the salesman, I tune it and actually want to buy it right away. Unfortunately, they don't have a suitable case in stock. We set off again and look for a smaller case. Next to the cathedral, we ask two street vendors in our beginner's Spanish for other stores that could have such a case. The girl even accompanies us to the store. Unfortunately, still no case, but on this way we met Eddie and Flor! We buy the guitar with a too big case and arrange to meet them for a beer. In the evening at Bar 23, we experience the pure Leon. There are only locals here, karaoke is sung and a bucket of beer costs 4 euros. Tuani, as they say in Nicaraguan, we like it here. Eddie tells us that he is an artist and lives off his self-made paintings and bracelets, Flor is his right hand and also very creative. Both live in Leon. We have a nice evening with three buckets of beer and I sing the German song 'Denkmal' in a Central American bar :D
