An Eventful Day

Julkaistu: 12.08.2023

For this day, like in the previous cities, I had booked a walking tour that started in the morning at Grote Markt. Beforehand, I bought a baguette and Viennese sausages for breakfast at the supermarket. The tour was really good and gave an interesting overview of Brussels' history. We also saw, among other things, the Manneken Pis, the main attraction of Brussels' city center, a statue of a little boy peeing into a fountain.

After the tour ended, I went to the Museum of Musical Instruments, which was even free for me. You could see a variety of instruments there and also listen to them with the help of an audio guide. The highlights included a theremin (an instrument played without touching it), a glass harmonica played with water, and a practice carillon that usually makes the bells in a church tower ring.

After seeing everything there, I walked to the European Quarter to the Parlamentarium, the visitor center of the European Parliament. There, you could explore the history of the European Union with the help of many interactive elements.

Finally, I walked back towards the hostel and then had dinner at the NONA Pasta restaurant, which served completely regional and homemade pasta.
