The Komodo Dragons.

After a lot of driving in the past days, I had to get up at 5 again today for the tour to the Komodo Islands. I was supposed to be picked up at 5:30. At 5:45, still nothing, so I contacted the agency. They said my driver would be there soon. Someone finally showed up a little after 6. Waited at a hotel for boarding the boat. The promised tour schedule had long been exceeded. This excursion cost so much money and all we did was sit around and wait instead of having time for the promised things. I was annoyed. Luckily, I was put in a purely Indonesian group. The tour guide had to explain everything in English just for me. Who planned this? On the positive side, I can say that at least I wasn't ignored and it was repeated in English just for me.

We had an hour on Padar Island to walk it all off, which we definitely needed. Then we went to the pink beach. The sand turns pink due to red corals. The main attraction was on Komodo Island itself. I had my own English-speaking guide, which is initially positive, if only he hadn't mumbled so much and it was almost impossible to understand him. We walked around and saw two Komodos in total and took a few pictures.

He told me that Komodos also devour each other. Newborns are a delicacy for their mothers. Fathers also like to eat the eggs. To protect themselves, the babies hide in palms for up to three years. The outside of a palm is very strong, but very soft on the inside. When the crown falls off, the baby climbs up and can already take a look from above to see if there are larger animals in the area or if there is no danger and the baby can climb down for food search.

Then we went diving with mantas. Since there were only Indonesians in my group who cannot swim, the guide only went into the water with me. We took a few pictures, but the whole thing was really rushed, which I found a pity. The last stop was Kanawa Island, where I didn't do much. I was already back at the hostel at 4:30 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. Late and back earlier and they still charged 110 euros for that. Somehow, I already felt ripped off.
