Today our day started a bit earlier because we wanted to climb the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. We took the metro to the center of Dubai Mall, where the entrance to the tower is located. We took an elevator that took us to the 124th floor in 55 seconds, where there is an observation deck. At a height of 452 meters (out of 828 meters in total), we had a pretty good view of Dubai. Due to the heat here, there is a lot of haze in the air, so unfortunately we couldn't see everything from Dubai. But it was still very cool to be able to enjoy such a view. Fortunately, it wasn't too crowded and we could take our time to look at everything. After walking around the 125th floor, we went back down to the ground. The ticket even included a cafe and a croissant, which we picked up later. After a short break, we took the metro, tram, and a short walk to a small beach area from where we could see the Burj al Arab Hotel (the most luxurious hotel in the world) and a small part of the Palm Islands. After a quick photo session, we went back to the tram. After walking in the sun, we were both very hungry and went to the Mall of the Emirates (another shopping street here in Dubai) to get something to eat.
Dubai can be compared to a huge construction site, with buildings being built everywhere and one skyscraper after another being erected into the sky. There are also many shopping centers here because the residents seem to be into that. You can buy everything here, but unfortunately not cheaper than in Germany. Dubai is simply a mega city that wants to become even bigger, and you can feel that here because everything is designed to be large.
