Day 7 and Day 8 - Recharge your batteries for the actual route and panic at border control

Julkaistu: 30.11.2023

Day 7

On the 7th day they created the day of laziness. We just spent the day relaxing on the beach under the palm trees and enjoyed a cool drink and just wanted to relax and show with the pictures that it is really warm here and only the beach is white and not the driveways or streets ;)

Day 8

On day 8 we went to the airport early. I don't like it when people go there late. But if you had told me that the taxi driver was faster than Schumi and that the gates and counters don't open early anyway, you could have still gone shopping 😜

But good. We also overcame this hurdle and got the flight. There has to be order, as a civil servant I have to check everything 100 times and I felt different - why? We didn't get an exit stamp from Mexico 😱

During the flight I was already panicking that I wouldn't be allowed to enter Peru. I was thinking about what would happen, that we would get stuck in the middle of nowhere and have to go back to Germany or something. But hey. Everything surpassed.

At the airport in Peru our passport was scanned, a photo was taken and we were asked how long we would be staying in the country. Uhhh, so how long are we staying in Peru :D

Our response to the border officer was 40 days. Since we didn't get a stamp here either - everything runs electronically for a short time, he said - we don't know whether he gave us 40 days. But well, it will be fine.

When we arrived at the Airbnb in the evening we were finally able to do laundry :)

Short conclusion about Mexico:

People:

Nice people

Mostly only 160cm tall (greetings to all Petras)

Can speak English as well as I can speak Spanish.

Love spicy food with burning doble

Always trying to sell something

But they are helpful

Eat

Unfortunately, we didn't find taco here, taco there (usually with corn) that exciting.

Didn't find any chilli / or only rarely found it.

Often everything is spicy. But spicy is not spicy here. The sharpness usually only lasts for a very short time and is pleasant.

We ate a number of rice dishes - but were rarely very hungry in the heat. But it didn't knock us off our feet either.

Supermarket with a gigantic selection - be it meat, cheese, baked goods, drinks, snacks and fruit/vegetables. So much unknown. That was really great. I was simply thrilled. So it was a shame that there was hardly anything like this in restaurants. I would have cooked myself too. But look at the last picture. I wanted to travel for a few more weeks before I blew myself up with it

Landscape

I have never experienced such a diverse variety of Green Sea Beach City. I've been to over 50 countries around the world, but this diversity is rare. I found Isla Mujeres with the beach so beautiful, and the little town on this island was just cute.

I found Cancun itself to be too overloaded with dilapidated buildings and hotel after hotel geared towards tourists. But shopping was great here.

I liked the one evening with Playa de Carmen much better ❤️

Tulum, Cenote, Chichen Itza are indescribable. They are nestled in beautiful nature. Unfortunately, more and more markets are being built outside so that even more tourists can gain entry.

CONCLUSION: I wouldn't want to fly that far for a beach vacation. For a healthy mix of activities and beach, Mexico is suitable.

Best regards

Freddy
